The Flex LS is BEDGEAR's streamlined adjustable base. Head up, foot up, flat — and a full massage system layered on top. It doesn't have the neck and lumbar zones of the higher-tier models, but it covers everything most people actually use every night. The setup is straightforward; so is the remote.
This guide translates the Flex LS owner's manual into one readable resource. Whether you're setting it up for the first time or troubleshooting an issue, everything you need is here.
What Comes in the Box
Lay everything out before you start. Small parts can shift during shipping; confirm all items are accounted for before you toss any packing materials.

Dispose of all packing materials immediately. Plastic bags pose a smothering risk to children and pets. Keep children and pets clear of the area before operating any moving parts.
How to Set Up the Flex LS
The Flex LS sets up two ways: freestanding on its own legs, or inside a bed frame on a slat base. Pick your method before you start — the steps split early.
Setup Without a Bed Frame
-
1Open and unpack Open the box and remove all accessories. Set them aside; verify all parts are present before discarding the packaging.
-
2Remove the safety clip Pull the red plastic safety clip from the folded base. Then remove the locking pin by pulling upward and rotating 90° counterclockwise to release the fold.
-
3Install the first four legs Using a flipping motion, stand the base upright on the headboard end. Install four legs there and tighten each one fully before moving on.
-
4Flip and install the remaining legs Flip the foot section out of the box and lay the base flat. Install the final two legs at the foot end. Tighten all six legs completely.
-
5Attach the mattress retainer bar For BEDGEAR mattresses: insert the flat retainer bar into the securing strap at the bottom of the mattress, then snap it into the retainer mounts. For non-BEDGEAR mattresses: install the bar one side at a time using the standard method.
-
6Make the base flat and connect power Lay the base completely flat. Connect the DC power cord from the control box into the power supply, then plug the AC cord into a grounded outlet. A surge protector is strongly recommended.
-
7Insert batteries and test Insert AAA batteries into the remote. Test all functions before placing your mattress.
Setup Inside a Bed Frame (Slat Base)
Skip the legs entirely. Place the Flex LS directly onto the slat surface and flip it flat. Route the DC power cord through the bottom or side of the frame toward your power source. From there, the mattress retainer bar installation and power connection follow the same steps as the freestanding setup.
Remote Control: Every Button Explained
The Flex LS remote controls head and foot adjustment independently, along with massage, LED lighting, and two programmable positions. There's no LCD screen on this remote; confirmation is via blue backlight flashes and audio tones.
Head Up / Down
Raises and lowers the head section independently. Use for reading, watching TV, or finding the angle that works best for your back.
Foot Up / Down
Raises and lowers the foot section independently. Elevate your legs to relieve lower back pressure or improve circulation overnight.
Flat
Returns the base to a fully flat position in one touch. Always store the base flat when not in use.
Programmable Positions (1 & 2)
Save two custom positions. Hold the LED button, then hold your chosen position button for 5 seconds until you hear a beep. Updated by repeating the same steps.
Head + Foot Massage
Three intensity levels per zone. Press the head or foot massage button to cycle through intensities; press STOP to turn both zones off.
Under-Bed LED
Toggles under-bed lighting on and off. The LED button also doubles as part of the programmable position save process.
Syncing Two Flex LS Bases
If you're running two Flex LS bases in a split-king or similar setup, you can sync them to move together. Which method you use depends on your remote version.
Wireless Sync
- Confirm both remotes are individually paired to their foundations.
- Bring both bases to flat position.
- Press and hold HEAD and the up button on both remotes simultaneously for 5 seconds until the blue backlights flash.
- To unsync, hold HEAD and HEAD on both remotes at the same time for 5 seconds until the blue backlights flash again.
Wired Sync (Sync Cord)
- Unplug both foundations from power.
- Connect the male ends of the sync cord to the female sync plugs on both control boxes.
- Plug both foundations back into power.
- Confirm all cords are secure. Either remote will now operate both foundations simultaneously.
Not sure which remote version you have? Check the label on the back of the remote for the model number. V2.0 or newer is printed there if it applies.
Need to Re-Pair the Remote?
Unplug the power cord and remove any 9V backup batteries from the power supply. Press and hold the HEAD button and the down button at the same time until the blue backlights turn off. Plug the cord back in. You'll hear an activation sound within 2 seconds confirming the pairing is complete.
Setting Up the BEDGEAR App
The BEDGEAR app gives you full phone control over the Flex LS. It connects via Bluetooth and pairs automatically when you open it. No account needed; no extra steps.
How to Download and Connect
Search "bedgear" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android) and install the app. Turn on Bluetooth on your phone and confirm the Flex LS is powered on before opening the app. It finds the base automatically within the 33-foot (10-meter) Bluetooth range.
The app gives you control over head and foot adjustment, programmable positions, massage intensity, and under-bed LED lighting. From the settings screen you can rename the base, check the control box serial number, and access the built-in troubleshooting guide.
The Flex LS contains Neodymium magnets that may interfere with pacemakers, ICDs, and other magnetically sensitive medical devices. If you use such a device, consult your physician before using this product. The massage feature vibrations may also be falsely interpreted as movement by some pacemakers. Speak with your doctor before using the massage function.
Troubleshooting the Flex LS
Most issues come down to power, pairing, or sync. Here are the quick fixes for what comes up most often.
| Problem | What to Check |
|---|---|
| Remote won't respond | Replace the AAA batteries first. If the batteries are fine, re-pair the remote using the pairing steps above. |
| Base won't power on | Confirm the DC cord is fully connected to both the control box and the power supply. Check the AC cord is plugged into a working grounded outlet. A surge protector is strongly recommended. |
| Sync not working between two bases | For wireless sync: check remote version (V2.0+ required) and make sure both bases are fully flat before initiating sync. For wired sync: confirm the sync cord is fully seated in both control boxes and both bases are powered. |
| Programmable position not saving | Hold the LED button first, then hold the programmable position button. The order matters. Hold both for the full 5 seconds until you hear the beep — releasing too early won't save the position. |
| Audio system won't pair or has no sound | Restart the base. Confirm you're within 26 feet and not trying to pair through a wall. Volume at minimum on the paired device will also produce no sound. Only one device can be paired at a time — disconnect the current one before adding a new device. |
If your issue isn't covered above, open the BEDGEAR app and check the troubleshooting section in settings. You can also reach customer service at 631-414-7763.
